Notes:
Originally called Bastrop (for Baron de Bastrop), the name was changed to Mina (for Francisco Mina, a local hero) in about 1834 and then changed back to Bastrop at the end of 1837. Bastrop was completely destroyed by Meixcans and Comanches during the Runaway Scrape of 1836. Residents returned to rebuild and Bastrop became an important settlement. The only stand of timber in the western part of Texas was in Bastrop County, the Lost Pine Forest. Latitude: 30.1102777777778, Longitude: -97.315
