"Jacob Poe ... married Nancy, eldest daughter of Robert McKinnis, in Ross County, Ohio, and followed his father-in-law to Hancock County. Six children were born to him, after settling in this township, viz.: George L., Rachel, James, Margaret, Nancy and Jacob, and of the ten, six survive. George L., now a resident of Findlay, is believed to have been the first white child born in the township and the second male in the county, his birth occurring in November, 1824."
