This is in a book indexed in 2000 called "The History of the Annals of Northwest Louisiana". Mariah Gibson O'Neal (b. 1809) who marr Harvey O'Neal tells the story in 1890 in Rapides Parrish LA. [This is NOT true, Jim Bowie's mother was not an O'Neal.] New York Daily Times (New York, New York), 9 January 1856 Horrible Retribution - In the early part of September last, a man living in Kemper County, in this State, whose name was Greenberry O'Neal, killed in an affray a man whose name we heard but have not forgotten. He was arrested and carried before the proper authorities and by them admitted to bail. A few nights since, while himself and family were seated around the fire, an unknown person approached his dwelling and placing a gun through a crack in the wall, discharged its contents at him, which entering his head, scattered his brains upon the floor, killing him instantly. An efforts was made, we learn, to find the perpetrators of this horrible deed and bring them to justice, but a last accounts no traces of them could be found. - Macon(?) (Miss.) Star. 7273	SIOUX CITY Sister Cora Marie Kesner, O.S.B., 100, of Sioux City died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. Funeral Mass will be 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Retirement Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis W. Meinen, chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the Holy Spirit Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel, Christy Smith Funeral Home. Sister Cora was born on July 15, 1908, in Sloan, Iowa, to John H. and Clarisa Kesner. She was raised in the Siouxland area. She graduated from high school and then entered the Benedictine Convent on March 17, 1928. She took her consecrated vows on March 21, 1930, in Sioux City. She served God in the St. Benedict Hospital in Sterling, Colo., St. Vincent Hospital and St. Monica's Home, both in Sioux City, and the St. Benedicts Ecumenical Center at the Mother House in Madison, Wis. She had lived in Sioux City for the last 30 years. Due to a loss of hearing, Sister Cora's duties in the religious life were mostly serving God in the kitchen and domestic work. She always served the elderly sisters with love and humor. She celebrated her 80th year as a Benedictine Sister on March 17, 2008. She was a volunteer for many years at the Bargain Center. Sister Cora also enjoyed doing needlework. She is survived by her loving community of sisters; many nieces and nephews and their families, especially Frances Quintard and her family of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; and four sisters. Memorials may be directed to the Holy Wisdom Monastery in Madison, Wis.	KESNER, Cora Marie (I19409)

7292	So it would appear that Samuel Sr married two women named Eliza. I don't have a surname for the first wife (Eliza ?). Her children are Mary E, Elisha F, Charles Joseph, Nancy J and Samuel R. Then Samuel Sr married Eliza Jane Driskell Gibbons (Eliza D). Her Sterling children are William T, Grace T, George W, M Abraham, Mary Ann and Tempie B. That's a total of 11 children for Samuel Sr and he raised Eliza D's three Gibbons children. There is also the question of John, age 1, on the 1870 census. Is this John Gibbons, age 9? Is he a twin to Grace or a foster child? We don't see him again. I believe it's John Wiley Gibbons with an incorrect age.
