MCKINNEY ? John Brazzil, 94, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon with the Rev. Gene Jones, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon.
John was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Flat. John was valedictorian of his high school graduating class and in 1948, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy from Texas A&M University.
He married Estelle LeNormand on Sept. 27, 1948, in Liberty.
He entered the Navy as a volunteer during World War II and attended boot camp in San Diego. He was assigned to a destroyer and was a gunner's mate 2nd class from 1942 to 1945.
Mr. Brazzil started work in the extension service in 1948 for Ellis County. He served as county extension agent for 25 years in Randall County from 1951 to 1976, when he retired. He worked with local farmers, city gardeners and the youth of the county through 4-H clubs. He helped rural residents with improved methods of growing crops using irrigation. He also had a major role in the organization of a soil conservation district in the county. He was a leader in the 4-H organization and helped with the livestock shows, electric camp and lead recreational games.
He received the Distinguished Service Award from National County Agricultural Agents Association.
He was a member of Canyon Chamber of Commerce, Randall County Farm Bureau and Randall County Junior Livestock Association.
He had a passion for his family, trout fishing, camping and hunting. John and his wife Estelle loved to square dance and were members of a square dance club. He also would teach the sixth graders at Canyon schools how to square dance.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Brazzil, on Jan. 22, 2011.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Gilbert and husband Steve of Prosper; and two granddaughters, Tracie Reiter and husband Matthew Reiter of Frisco and Laurie Stuteville and husband Jared Stuteville of Keller. He was known as PaPa John to his four great-grandchildren, Blake, Brayden and Baily Reiter, all of Frisco, and Levi Stuteville of Keller. He also is survived by a sister, Bobbie Geiselbrecht of Flat.

Funeral for Ray A. Dumesnil Sr., 77, of San Augustine will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, San Augustine, with Father Joe Kannampuzha officiating. Burial will be at Thomas Cemetery in San Augustine. Mr. Dumesnil died June 16, 2007, in Lufkin. Born Dec. 12, 1929, in New Orleans, La., he was the son of Claude C. Dumesnil and Eula P. Guilotte Dumesnil. He was a machinist and a U.S. Marine. Mr. Abraham Coon died at his home, near Gordon, Sheridan county, Neb., July 9, 1886. He was born in Ohio, September 7, 1820.
He, with his parents, moved to Indiana when a boy. After residence there of a number of years, he went to Wisconsin; thence to Iowa, and in the spring of 1886 moved to Sheridan county, Neb.
The funeral services were held at his home. Many friends paid their last tribute of respect by their attendance at the funeral. He was laid to rest south of town on the school section. Mrs. Brazzil's Funeral GATESVILLE ? Funeral services for Mrs. Edwin Brazzil of Gatesville were held at Scott's Chapel Friday. Rev Wright Price and Rev. George Matthews officiated. Burial was in Flint Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Brazzil died in a Gatesville hospital Wednesday of a heart ailment. She was was a lifelong resident of Coryell County. She was the former Miss Eva Alice Hamiton. She was born at Flat, May 8, 1890. She married Mr. Brazzil July 10, 1910. They lived in the Flat and The Grove communities until moving to Gatesville six years ago. Mrs. Brazzil was a member of the Flat Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband; four sons, Wilson Brazzil of Highlands, Chester Brazzil of Temple, J. D. Mrs. Clara Colby of Corfu, Genesee Co, NY - 1926
Corfu, Jan. 19 (1942).--Mrs. Clara Senn Colby, widow of Garrett COLBY, died yesterday afternoon at 3:40 o'clock at her home on North Alleghany street, following a long illness. She was confined to her bed for only a few days.
Mrs. Colby, born at Pembroke on October 16, 1864, was a daughter of the late Frederick and Clara LITT SENN. On July 24, 1884, she was married to Mr. Colby, who resided on the Snippery road east of Corfu, where they made their home for about two years and then moved to the house in this village where Mrs. Colby died. Mr. Colby died on January 1, 1914.
Mrs. Colby was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Corfu Rebekah Lodge, No. 222.
Surviving are two sons, Garrett R. Colby of Geneva, O., and Robert W. Colby who resided with his mother; a daughter, Mrs. Adelbert E. BEIDECK of Corfu; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandson. She was the mother of the late Mrs. Clara BEIDECK. A sister, Mrs. Julia TUBBS of Buffalo, also survives.
Private funeral services for Mrs. Colby will be held from the Colby home on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. William T. Eaton officiating. Friends may call at the home until Wednesday noon. Interment will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery. | SENN, Clara Elizabeth (I2590)

Mrs. Ethel M. Ferguson, 66, of Phillipsport, died in Veterans' Memorial Hospital, Ellenville, Monday. She was a daughter of George and Phoebe Hall Wagner and was married June 1, 1908 at Phillipsport to Charles Ferguson who died Dec. 25, 1951. Mrs. Evelyn Cornelia Bradberry, 81, died after a five-week illness Monday at the home of her son, L. D. Bradberry, 2808 Peabody.
She and her husband, the late J. J. Bradberry. lived on a farm in Kaufman County near Prairieville, for many years before moving to Dallas twenty years ago. Survivors include four other children, Tom Bradberry, Ward Bradberry, Harry Bradberry, and Mrs. W. W. Cumbie; two brothers, Joe R. Gillespie and Ernest Gillespie, and a sister, Mrs. Ambrose Johnson.

Mrs. Hanna Smith, 77 years old, wife of J. F. Smith of Curry, La., died at her home December 29th. She with her husband have been residents of Winn Parish for a number of years moving here from Lincoln Parish.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church to which she has been a devout and faithful member since early womanhood. She leaves her husband, J. F. Smith and three sons, J. T. Smith, C. A. Smith, and W. L. Smith all of whom are citizens of the Curry Community, one brother Tom Puckett formerly of Gansville.
