| Mellen, William Pepperell Jack's 4th great grandfather, William Pepperell Mellen. He lived in Natchez, Mississippi, and fled to Texas during the Civil War. He was caught by the Northern Army and imprisoned in Arkansas where he died about 1864.

I know who Jewel [Edwards Kirk Sides] is now and the actual relationship is extremely complicated but Jewel's mother, Pearl McBroom Edwards was a stepdaughter to Menton Arledge. Ed's mother, Virginia was also a stepdaughter to Menton so Jewel and Ed are "almost cousins". (Pearl and Virginia had different mothers.)
